Come and Follow.
I’ve moved from exploring Jesus to trusting Jesus.
Now I want to understand what I believe, why I believe it, and how to build my life on Jesus.
This is where conviction develops roots.
Everyone is being discipled
Our culture is forming us
- Our entertainment.
- Algorithms.
- Relationships.
- Ambitions.
- Habits.
- Influencers.
- Ideas.
The question isn’t whether you’re being discipled.
The question is who—or what—is discipling you.
The New Testament word for disciple, mathētēs, means more than a student. It describes a learner, apprentice, and follower whose life increasingly reflects the one they follow.
A disciple is someone who learns from Jesus to live like Jesus.
What is a disciple?
Disciple definition
A disciple isn’t merely someone who believes in Jesus. A disciple pursues being formed by Jesus and practices living like Jesus in the world.
A disciple chooses:
- To be with Jesus.
- To believe what Jesus taught.
- To become like Jesus.
- To behave as Jesus would.
Through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit — this is what we call experiencing and expressing the essence of Jesus.
Called to be: Transformed into the character of Jesus.
Sent to Go: Participating in the mission of Jesus.
Made to Multiply: Helping others follow Jesus.

Discipleship has a purpose
The goal of discipleship isn’t self-improvement. It’s life transformation.
We aren’t trying to become slightly better versions of ourselves. We are surrendering our lives so that the life of Jesus is increasingly formed in us and expressed through us.
We begin to:
- Think like Jesus.
- Love like Jesus.
- Respond like Jesus.
- Serve like Jesus.
- Live like Jesus.
The Holy Spirit
Discipleship has a provision
We cannot become like Jesus through willpower alone. Jesus promised:
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…” – Acts 1:8
The Holy Spirit teaches, convicts, guides, empowers, and transforms us.
We don’t become like Jesus by simply trying harder.
We become like Jesus by surrendering deeper to the Spirit of Jesus.
Knowing Jesus must eventually become practicing the way of Jesus.
